Things You Must Consider When Planning Your Multi-Level Marketing Success

By Reginald Delaney

Allow me to share a few comments with you on your MLM journey. First, I will say that there are a lot of great opportunities to consider. So what you need to do is find the opportunity that is right for you. I have heard it said that it's not the product or service that is most important, it is the team and support structure (which includes the management team and the training offered). For me, all of these things are important. The compensation plan and the timeliness of payments are important, as well.

So having said that, let’s look at each one a little closer.

Choose The Right Opportunity

It is important to choose the opportunity that is right for you because you will be presenting your opportunity to others to convince them that it is something in which they should be involved. If you are excited about the opportunity, it will show. If you are not excited about the opportunity, it will show. Another reason that it is important to find an opportunity that you are passionate about is the fact that everyone will not share your passion and enthusiasm for your opportunity. It does not matter how great the opportunity is, the road to MLM success is paved with many “no’s”. The friends and family members are a great way to get introduced to the world of “no’s” without being coupled with some of the occasional rudeness that you may get from complete strangers. Sometimes folks can be quite harsh in their rejection tactics. This is where the “passion” comes in. You will need that passion to keep propelling you forward. You cannot allow yourself to take the “no’s “ personally. You must continue to forge ahead. If you have chosen the right opportunity, you will be able to weather the storm of “no’s”.

Employ a Good Marketing Strategy

It’s true that you must use the internet in your overall marketing plan, but you must be willing to present your opportunity to people that you encounter on a daily basis. For one thing, it allows you to practice your elevator speech. This is where you give probable prospects a 90 second spill on your opportunity and the benefits that the opportunity offers to them. This is important because it allows you to practice your delivery and hone in on the wording that triggers the desired response. This information can be used to perfect your marketing efforts.

For the internet marketing piece, make sure that you have a website to which to direct your prospects. In this day and age, the existence of the website adds to the legitimacy of the business. Review the website from the perspective of being a new prospect being introduced to the business for the first time. What would be your initial impression? Would you have more questions than answers after viewing the material? Would you feel good about sending others to your company replicated website? Is there enough information to remind the prospect of what the company is truly offering and why they [the prospect] should join the company? If you explore these questions and you are convinced that the website is not a problem, then you will not be uncomfortable directing traffic to your website.

There are many ways to direct traffic to your website. You can use online and offline strategies. The online strategies include article marketing, blogging, tweeting, utilizing social media, etc. The goal is to get folks to want to find out more about you and from you through your deliverance of good solid content to them. You must be sincere in your efforts to provide them with value in your information sharing. Seek first to help others and the money will come later. As for your offline efforts, newspaper ads, street signs (where allowed, some cities don’t allow you to use them), flyers, business cards, home meetings, etc. all have their place. I like the home and group meetings because they allow me to sharpen my presentation skills and to be perceived as the “expert” on the company. I become the “go-to” person in the minds of those present. This is important because of the referral business that it generates.

In all you do, you must approach your network marketing opportunity as a business. Most of these opportunities will provide the earnings disclaimer before you join. This is done because they must let you know that even though there may be people in the business that are doing extremely well, there is no guarantee that you will do equally as well. Your business will thrive or flounder based on your efforts and actions.

Associate with the Right Teams

It is important that you find an opportunity that has a good management team possessing a considerable amount of experience in the direct sales industry. This is extremely important for new companies that are in the infantile stages of being in the market place. The more experience they have in building and expanding the company, the better for the company retailers or network marketers.

In addition to the management team, you must make sure that your local team is very supportive of new network marketers. This includes the network marketing veterans as well as the network marketing neophytes. Some network marketers that join the opportunity will come aboard with years of network marketing experience. They will have experience with building their customer base and may indeed come onboard with a group of people in tow. Their mission will be to get up to speed quickly about the history of the company, the product and services, the training available, and the compensation plans so that they can educate their teams. For the neophytes, the local team support should include training on what it takes for network marketing “newbies” to be successful in the business. The training should include sessions on how to build successful networks, how to handle rejection, how to be a leader, etc.
Team support is critical to your success. It allows you to get up and running quickly and it provides you with an immediate source for answering questions and addressing issues.

Evaluate the Compensation Plan

As mentioned earlier, you must approach your network marketing opportunity as a business. As such, the ultimate goal of your business is to make money. You must be sure that your opportunity will afford you to achieve the financial goals that you have set for yourself. The compensation plan presented by your opportunity must allow you to formulate an idea of what it will take to achieve your financial goals and how long it might take you to achieve them. There should be an opportunity for you to see short term (or immediate) success and long term success from the residual income generated. If you have questions about any aspects of the compensation plan, you should be able to pose these questions to your team and get the answers needed.

Summary

So, to wrap things up, there are many elements to consider when evaluating a network marketing opportunity. These elements will play heavily in your likelihood of success. You must realize that it will take work and effort to be successful, and these are not get-rich-quick opportunities (unless your idea of “quick” is 18 months or more). Couple this with the fact that there may be many lulls in your recruiting efforts and you can see why picking the opportunity that’s right for you is so very important. So again I say, find an opportunity that you are passionate about and go out and build your fortune!

To your success!
